Jim Geiger, the owner and manager of Legacy Builders, has been an entrepreneur and a builder for most of his life. He has built several companies in the home construction industry, the first of which was an electrical contracting business which eventually consisted of fifteen full-time employees, a fleet of six trucks, and contracts with over 20 different builders. Over the course of the company's 26+ years, Jim and his crews wired projects ranging in size from medium and large family-sized homes to mansions and compounds of 10,000 to 20,000 sq. ft. A "hands-on" type of boss, Jim worked side-by-side with his employees, acting as a mentor and teaching them his trade.

During the 80's and 90's, Jim and his brother, Thomas Geiger, built more than 35 spec homes on lots that they owned. The majority of these homes were under contract to buyers before they were even finished, a testiment to the brother's dedication to quality workmanship and forward-thinking designs. When the economy got soft, Jim and Thomas switched their strategy, turning distressed and/or auctioned properties into desireable homes that sold quickly.

Jim formed Legacy Builders shortly after his brother Thomas passed away in May, 2011, carrying on the brother's dream of a new business venture together. In addition to building and remodeling homes, Legacy Builders currently owns and manages three rental properties, and plans to acquire several more in the next year.

Dan Ladd

Custom Builder, Consultant, Developer

Dan Ladd is a Custom Builder, Consultant and Developer of single and multi-family home building communities. He brings a reputation for excellence and trustworthiness coupled with a talent for building relationships. Dan has the ability to simplify the complexity of the building process using strong communication skills and detailed analysis, providing our customers with a unique experience.

Dan brings an impressive array of skills including Construction, Project & Land Management, Financial Management (Budgeting, Estimating, Scheduling), and Marketing (Sales, Advertising, Vendor Negotiations). He also has extensive experience in Contracts, Licensing, Permitting, Closings and Customer Service.

For 23 years, Dan worked for Brittany Builders, Inc., a third generation family owned custom/semi-custom home building and real estate development group. Starting out as Field Superintendent, he supervised over twenty trades and improved completion times and overall customer satisfaction. As Vice President of Construction, Dan managed more than 160 on-site semi-custom and 30 off-site custom home building projects. He also worked closely with local municipalities and civil engineers in order to ensure all road, infrastructure, zoning and site improvements were approved and implemented for three large residential developments. Dan later became President of the company where over the course of a decade, he personally handled all sales, financial and marketing related activities.

Judy Pelinski

Interior Decorator, Instructor, Author

Judy Pelinski is an award winning Interior Decorator, entrepeneur, published author and owner of Fresh Look Interiors. She also owns The Staging & Redesign Academy, where she is a certified trainer in Interior Redesign, Real Estate Staging and Color Theory. She is also a founding member of the Midwest Redesign Association.

Judy adds a unique dash of style to all Legacy Builder's remodeling, home building, and rental properties. Judy has been featured in some of the industry's leading publications and on national television. She transformed an ordinary living room in front of millions of viewers on "ABC's Home Improvement Friday". By using the "Use What You Have" principles, she created an warm, welcoming, and inviting space. Judy's extraordinary work has also been recognized by some of the most prestigious trade publications in the industry, including a recent issue of "Decorating Spaces", a nationally syndicated magazine.

In 2009, the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce presented Judy with the "Presidential Award of Excellence." In 2013, Judy was named one of McHenry County's "Everyday Heroes" for her work as chairwoman for Crystal Lake's "Community Harvest", which last year fed 33 needy families through its "Share A Christmas" program. She was also named as the Heartland Realtors Organization's 2014 "Affiliate of the Year".

Thomas Geiger

Brothers Thomas Geiger and Jim Geiger dreamed of a new business venture in which they would be partners. Their vision was to create a building company that placed emphasis on quality workmanship and creative, modern designs. They also planned to purchase and renovate homes for rentals to sustain the company through lean times. However, on May 31st, 2011, Thomas passed away. In 2012, with the support and assistance of several good friends and trusted business partners, Jim realized the brothers' dream and created Legacy Builders.
